Research was required to understand why volunteers participate in community conservation
Predator Free NZ 2050’s vision is to support volunteers, connect community groups and landowners. This research delved into what attracts volunteers into community conservation . The psychological thinking behind how we connect and interact with the environment as New Zealanders. The research involved 27 stakeholder interviews with central and local government, iwi and hapū, science and research organisations, community project leaders, subject matter experts/ researchers, philanthropy funders, and stakeholders from the predator free movement/ DOC. An online survey was conducted with community conservation volunteers.
